Reedmor Books & Brews is an independent bookshop, café and beer and wine bar at 67 State Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801. The shop is woman-owned and run by Nissa Bagelman, who has a background in publishing sales. It continues a family bookselling story that began in 1928, when her great-grandparents opened Reedmor Magazine Co. in Philadelphia. The current shop brings that history into a smaller, modern space, with books and drinks sharing the same address.

The book selection is curated rather than enormous, with a strong focus on romance, fantasy, science fiction and mysteries, alongside other new and older titles. Recent listings include books by Rachel Gillig, Toni Morrison, Kurt Vonnegut and Jodi Picoult, as well as popular titles such as Project Hail Mary and The Wedding People. Children’s books are not currently part of the range, although some young adult titles may be added later. Customers can also order through the shop’s Bookshop.org storefront, while the Libro.fm membership offers monthly audiobook credits that do not expire, 30% off additional audiobooks and access to exclusive sales for €9.99 per month; prices are converted here to approximately £9.
The bar has 18 seats and 11 draft lines, with a rotating selection of New England craft beer, cider, red and white wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. The café serves tea, cold brew and drip coffee, while the food menu covers light bites and tapas-style snacks such as macaroni and cheese, soups, chilli, mini crab cakes, spanakopita and buffalo chicken poppers. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. Reviews describe the atmosphere as intimate and welcoming, with friendly staff, board games and a small shop dog called Luna. The venue also runs literary trivia nights, poetry readings and themed book clubs, and can be hired for private events.
As of Saturday 5 September 2026, Reedmor is open Tuesday to Thursday from 11am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 9pm, and Sunday from noon to 6pm; it is closed on Mondays.
