If you are looking for a budget-friendly way to entertain the family this weekend, Fareham's Big Weekend is returning on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July 2026. Organised by Fareham Borough Council and sponsored by Geely Portsmouth, this free two-day event runs from 10:00 to 16:00 on both days across various spots in Fareham Town Centre. It is a straightforward trip from Portsmouth, and you can easily get there by train (it is a ten-minute walk from Fareham station), by bus, or by bike via the National Cycle Network. If you decide to drive, keep in mind that there is no parking at Bath Lane Recreation Ground, so you will need to use the town centre car parks.

The activities are spread across several key hubs. At Bath Lane Recreation Ground, Saturday features cricket taster sessions and matches with Fareham & Crofton Cricket Club, a community showcase, and a free children's circus workshop. On Sunday, the cricket club continues with open sessions and charity fundraising, alongside a fun dog show hosted by Fareham's Doggy Daycare. Over at Fareham Shopping Centre, families can access a free pop-up beach, table tennis, soft play for under-5s, and face painting in Delme Square. Meanwhile, West Street will host street performers, an artisan and farmer's market, and a bubble workshop. For those interested in local history, a pop-up Military Heritage Museum will also be set up in the town centre.
Other venues are hosting specialized entertainment throughout the weekend. The Civic Area features performances by Magic Kai on Saturday and Crazy M on Sunday, alongside aerial arts workshops and activities at Fareham Library. Fareham Live is opening its doors with a "stage to selfie" experience, crafts, and lawn games, while Westbury Manor Garden offers free mini golf, a graffiti workshop, and acoustic music. If you want to get active, Fareham Leisure Centre is offering free bookable badminton, pickleball, and pool sessions, and Padel4all Fareham has free introductory padel sessions. You can also drop by The Makers House on Arundel Drive for craft sessions and an art competition. To make a game of it, you can collect a stamp card, get stickers at the different locations, and hand it in to a steward for a chance to win prizes like local memberships or theatre tickets.
