The space sets the tone as much as the food does. It's got a big cocktail bar and a wide outdoor terrace looking out over the quay and the boats, and the interiors are bold, with nautical touches that nod to the surroundings. It's the kind of place that works as well for a slow brunch as it does for a proper dinner, and the hours back that up: open from 9am every day, it runs until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and stays open until 1am on Friday and Saturday.
On the menu, you'll find empanadas, burgers, halloumi, pancakes, fruitcake, cheesecakes and carrot cake, with breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner all served throughout the day. The cocktails are a big part of the draw, and there's a Teatime Tipple offer — two signature or seasonal cocktails for £15.50, available Sunday to Friday from 4pm to 9pm, though the hours can shift over the holidays. If you're going with kids, there's a family-friendly menu with balanced options and a drink, breakfast served until 4pm and mains and desserts from midday, with VAT on children's meals reduced to 5% since late June. A few months down the line, from 18 November until Christmas Eve, the Christmas menus come in at three courses from £29.95, with shared starters, a choice of main and desserts. Prices generally sit between £10 and £30 a head, with dinner landing around £20 to £30 and brunch closer to £30 to £40.
A few practical things are worth knowing before you go. Bookings are taken, so it's worth sorting a table rather than turning up, and the place is accessible for anyone with mobility issues, with disabled toilets and baby-changing facilities on site. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, there's free Wi-Fi, and they take Amex, Delta, Maestro, MasterCard, Visa and most other cards. It's worth noting there's no delivery or takeaway, so it's a sit-down affair from start to finish. For bigger groups, there's a private dining room and the option to hire the whole place for events like weddings, baby showers or business meetings.
And if you're going for the view as much as the food, you're in the right place. The Spinnaker Tower, 170 metres of sail-shaped concrete and glass, stands just behind the building, and its three observation decks at 100, 105 and 110 metres give you a proper look over the harbour. The highest one, the Sky Garden, is open to the air, and the first one comes with a glass floor for anyone brave enough to stand on it. Between the terrace and the tower, it's a good spot to spend a few hours taking in the water.
