Screening of the 1991 Japanese sci-fi action film 'Zëiram', directed by Keita Amemiya, presented by the creative collective Brain Dead.
Tomorrow Theater is screening Zëiram on Saturday, October 24, a 1991 Japanese sci-fi action film directed by Keita Amemiya. It's a cult classic that's mostly known for its practical effects and creature design, and this session is presented by Brain Dead, the Los Angeles creative collective that operates as a meeting place for contemporary subcultures.
The movie follows two men working in the electronic services industry, Teppei and Kamiya, who stumble upon Ilia, an intergalactic bounty hunter, and her partner Bob, an artificial intelligence. They end up accidentally transported to the Zone, a virtual reality where Bob has trapped Ilia's latest prey: a biological weapon named Zeiram. From there, the story turns into a fight for survival as the two men get caught in the crossfire between a bounty hunter and her target. It's shown in Japanese and runs 97 minutes.
Brain Dead is more than just the presenter here. They'll be vending classic Brain Dead gear in the theater, with merch sales starting at 3 PM. If you're into their stuff, you'll want to arrive early enough to browse before the movie starts.
