Concert by the Portland indie/alternative band Woolly Sweaters at ADX, part of the ADXFest celebration of creatives.
Woolly Sweaters are playing ADX on Friday, October 23, from 7 PM to 9 PM. They're a Portland indie/alt band, and the show falls during ADX Fest, the citywide celebration of creatives that runs throughout October 2026 and brings together artists, designers, makers and creators from across the industry with exhibitions, tours, performances and collaborative programming.
If you haven't caught them yet, the music they make is a bit of a contradiction. They describe it as tiptoeing around dark and uncomfortable themes that hide behind upbeat tempos and bouncy melodies, with songwriting that draws you in with a subtle ambiguity. Underneath the surface, the songs carry messages of loss, heartbreak, estranged parents and substance abuse. It's the kind of thing that sounds bright on the first listen and reveals its weight the more you pay attention.
Though they're a new project, the band is made up of established musicians from the PNW scene. The vocalist comes from a lo-fi chillhop duo; the drummer works in jazz and burlesque; the keyboard and lead guitarist has a background in ska and punk; and the bassist has played in doom metal and blues bands. That's a lot of different corners of the local music scene meeting in one room, and you can hear those varied backgrounds in the way they put things together.

They've played art shows before, including the Death and the Maiden exhibit by Erin Robinson Grant at ADX, so they're no strangers to the space. The show is on Friday, October 23, from 7 PM to 9 PM at ADX, 417 SE 11th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97214.
