Portland psychedelic pop outfit blending rock and shoegaze
Wooden Overcoat play Zero Wave on Friday, October 16, at 7 PM. It's a single-bill night, so they're the only act on the calendar.
If you haven't come across them yet, Wooden Overcoat is a psychedelic pop outfit based right here in Portland. The band is the sonic brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Brant Hajek, and he's rounded out by Dillon Glusker on bass, Mac on guitar, and Brian Levin on drums and backing vocals. They describe their sound as sitting at the intersection of rock and shoegaze—so you'll find the melodic, song-driven side of indie rock meeting the washed-out, atmospheric textures that shoegaze is known for. It's a local project, and this is a local show, which makes it an easy one to catch on a Friday night.
