Tony Starlight and his band perform favorite Neil Diamond songs and Sweet Caroline, celebrating a fundraising campaign for Chulaimbo Primary School in Kenya.
Tony Starlight brings his Neil Diamond tribute to the Alberta Rose Theatre on Sunday, October 11, starting at 5 PM. He'll be backed by his band, and the set is built around Diamond's favorite songs, with "Sweet Caroline" in the mix. The show is also a fundraiser for Chulaimbo Primary School in Kenya.
The Alberta Rose is in Northeast Portland's Alberta Arts District, at 3000 NE Alberta. It opened as a motion picture house in 1927 and has spent more than 80 years hosting music, comedy, circus, film and live performance. It's a 300-seat listening room with the feel of a Spanish-Colonial courtyard, good acoustics and a full bar. You'll find vegetarian and gluten-free empanadas from El Pilรณn and treats from Sweetpea Baking there too.
The surrounding neighborhood is known for its summer street fairs, diverse eating spots, hip artisan shops, street art and murals, and for Black Heritage Markers along the sidewalk that honor the local Black community's history. In the summer, the Last Thursday art walk closes Alberta Street to traffic for fifteen blocks, with galleries throwing opening parties and venues and bars staging live music.
