A screening of the 1996 goth cult classic film The Craft, marking its 30th anniversary, at the Tomorrow Theater in Portland.
The Craft is coming to Tomorrow Theater on Sunday, October 18, for a screening that marks the 30th anniversary of Andrew Fleming's 1996 goth cult classic. It's a movie that's earned its reputation over the years, and seeing it in a theater is a different experience than catching it on a small screen.
The story follows Sarah, a girl who transfers to a Los Angeles high school and discovers she has a telekinetic gift. That gift catches the eye of three other wannabe witches—Bonnie, Rochelle, and Nancy—who have been searching for a fourth member to complete their rituals. From there, things start to slide. Their troubled backgrounds and growing powers lead to dangerous consequences: a minor spell leaves a fellow student hairless, and the group grows power-mad as they realize how much they can actually do. It's a movie about friendship, power, and the trouble that comes when you don't know how to handle either.
The film is rated R, so keep that in mind if you're bringing anyone younger. It runs 101 minutes, which puts it just under two hours.
