Indie rock performance by Soccer Mommy with a pre-show discussion and Q&A session.
Soccer Mommy plays First Congregational United Church of Christ on Thursday, November 5, at 7 PM. It's a solo performance, and before the music starts, there's a pre-show discussion and Q&A. A local opener opens the night.
Soccer Mommy is the project of Sophie Allison, a Nashville artist who's become one of indie rock's most interesting figures over the last decade. It started as a bedroom-to-Bandcamp exercise, with a teenage Allison posting her songs as demos, and she's always written candidly about her life. Her 2022 album Sometimes, Forever was followed by her fourth record, Evergreen, which she wrote after a profound personal loss. She produced it with Ben H. Allen III—who's worked with Deerhunter and Animal Collective—at Maze Studios in Atlanta. On that one, she traded synthesizers for acoustic guitars, rich drums, and real flutes. The 11-track album includes an ode to Allison's purple-haired wife in the game Stardew Valley.

Because this is a solo show, you'll hear her songs stripped down to just her voice and her guitar, and the pre-show conversation gives her a chance to talk about the work before she plays it. Tickets are $34.80, and the whole thing kicks off at 7 PM on Thursday, November 5, at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
