A Halloween extravaganza of cartoons and stop-motion animation on vintage 16mm film, curated by Greg Hamilton of Darkroom Associates.
The Psychotronic Halloween Special comes to the Hollywood Theatre on Monday, October 12, at 7:30 PM. It's a Halloween program of cartoons, stop-motion animation, and other oddities projected on vintage 16mm film, curated by Greg Hamilton of Darkroom Associates.
The lineup features Groovy Ghoulies, the Spooky Boos, and The Witty Witch and the Headless Horseman, along with a broader program of Halloween cartoons and stop-motion animation. The whole thing is projected on 16mm film, so you're seeing these on the big screen just as they were meant to be seen, rather than a digital transfer. It's a night that leans on the particular charm of vintage film to bring these old animations back to life.
Greg Hamilton is the one behind the whole thing, and he's a familiar name in these circles. He also puts together The Psychotronic After School Special, The Nyback Show, and Trailermaina, so this fits right in with his other work. If you've seen any of those, you'll recognize the approach: digging up old film and giving it a proper screening.
