Oregon Symphony 2026/27 season with Artist-in-Residence Simone Porter, guest artists Emanuel Ax and Abel Selaocoe, and the 'Sounds Like Portland' series.
The Oregon Symphony is back at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall for its 2026/27 season, which runs from September 19, 2026, through May 23, 2027. The symphony bills the season as "130 years in the making," and it leans on Artist-in-Residence Simone Porter and a string of guest artists. Porter will be a constant throughout the year, and she's joined by pianist Emanuel Ax, cellist and improviser Abel Selaocoe, and Portland folk troubadour John Craigie.
Selaocoe takes center stage on a new cello concerto by Montgomery, and the season also features a live-to-picture cinematic concert of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, with Bernard Herrmann's string-only score played along with the film. There's also the "Sounds Like Portland" series, which runs throughout the season and grew out of last year's three-week festival spotlighting the music of the Rose City.
One of the more unexpected nights comes when the orchestra joins Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Goldblum's jazz ensemble has been together for some 30 years, and for this show they'll play orchestral arrangements of their classic tunes alongside material from their latest project, Night Blooms. It's a rare chance to hear the group with a full symphony behind them.

Beyond the Schnitzer, the symphony also plays in Salem, so the season reaches across both Portland and Salem. The dates run from September 19, 2026, to May 23, 2027.
