A fully improvised stand-up comedy show where audience members provide topics for local and touring comics to riff on the spot.
Off the Cuff is back at Al's Den on Tuesday, November 3, starting at 7 PM. It's a fully improvised stand-up comedy show, and it's a weekly thingโit runs every Tuesday night at the same spot.
The whole premise is built on the audience. Throughout the night, people drop topics into a bucket, and the comics pull from it to riff on the spot. The only rule is that no old jokes are allowed, so everything you hear is being made up right there in the room. It's not a polished set; it's the process of a comic figuring out a bit in real time, which is a different kind of energy than a standard comedy show.
The lineup brings together local favorites and touring comics, so you'll get a mix of faces you might recognize from around town and people just passing through. Both types of comics are working from the same bucket, riffing on whatever topics the crowd comes up with. Since the material is improvised, no two nights are the sameโthe set depends entirely on what people throw into the bucket.
