Indie rock concert by Gully Boys at Mission Theater, with doors at 7 PM and show at 8 PM.
Gully Boys play the Mission Theater on Friday, November 6, with Pollyanna and Nonbinary Girlfriend opening. It's a full bill, so the night starts well before the headliner takes the stage.
The band's origin story is a good one: vocalist and guitarist Kathy Callahan and drummer Nadirah McGill were coworkers in a Minneapolis thrift shop, bonding over shared dreams. They brought in middle-school friend Natalie Klemond on bass, and the first thing they worked on was a cover of Best Coast's "Girlfriend." From there, they channeled the raw energy of No Doubt, Garbage, and Hole into a sound they call "Gully."
They've been building on that since the early days. In 2018, the Minneapolis City Pages named them Best New Band. By late 2019, they'd put out the demo collection Not So Brave and the EP Phony. Lead guitarist Mariah Mercedes joined later, and the group followed up with the Favorite Son EP in 2021, and the singles "See You See" in 2022 and "Optimist" in 2023. They've played SXSW and Audiotree, and toured with Nova Twins and Motion City Soundtrack.

The venue is the Mission Theater, known around town as "the Mission." It dates back to the 1890s, when the Swedish Evangelical Mission established its church there. It later became home to the Swedish Mission Covenant congregation before evolving into the theater-pub and event space it is today. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM.
