Booksigning and meet-and-greet with Lee Asher, founder of The Asher House, at Powell's City of Books.
Lee Asher is coming to Powell's City of Books on Saturday, October 10, for a booksigning and meet-and-greet. He'll be signing copies of Saved by the Pack and posing for photos with a few of his dogs, so if you're going, you'll likely see some four-legged guests hanging around the tables.
Asher is the founder of The Asher House, the nonprofit animal sanctuary he started here in Oregon back in 2020. Since then, the sanctuary has rescued more than 1,000 dogs, and that work has earned him a following on social media. Saved by the Pack is published by National Geographic and is illustrated throughout. It traces the journey that led him to animal rescue: a tumultuous childhood marked by ADHD and bullies, followed by a crushing corporate job that pushed him to find his true purpose. Through the stories of fifty dogsโand a few cats, horses, and pigsโhe shares his challenges, his dedication and sacrifice, and his hope of encouraging others to bring good into the world.

The signing runs from 12 PM to 4 PM at Powell's, 1005 W. Burnside St., Portland, OR 97209. It's a ticketed event organized by Powell's Books, so you'll want to grab yours ahead of time rather than just showing up.
