Singer-songwriter Justin Nozuka performs live at the McMenamins Mission Theater in Portland, following his North American tour.
Justin Nozuka plays McMenamins Mission Theater on Tuesday, October 20. He's a singer-songwriter and producer born in Queens and raised in Toronto in a musical family, and he's been working at this for nearly two decades. He first made a name for himself with his gold-certified debut album, Holly, and has since played festivals like Glastonbury and Fuji Rock.
His sound has shifted over the years. The Juno-nominated You I Wind Land and Sea sat in the acoustic, folk-infused territory, but his more recent releases move toward alternative R&B. He pulls from R&B, soul, folk, and rock, weaving them into an intimate style that's earned him a loyal following. He's also collaborated with Mahalia, River Tiber, RZA, India Arie, Zacari, and Russ.
The Portland date comes after a fully sold-out unplugged tour and a 21-city North American run, where he played fan favorites alongside fresh, unreleased songs. That same mix of old and new is what you'll hear here: the songs that built his following and the newer material he's been touring.
