Concert featuring Hayden Everett, a Seattle-based Americana artist, performing with Kate Stephenson at Swan Dive.
Hayden Everett plays Swan Dive on Monday, October 12, with Kate Stephenson opening. It's a folk and Americana bill, and Everett is coming in off his first full-length record, So The Sun Can Pour, which he released independently this past April.
Everett is a Seattle-based Americana artist who blends folk storytelling with jazz-trained musicianship and expansive, atmospheric production. He writes a lot of his material on solo backpacking trips, and that outdoorsy, solitary streak carries through his work. His debut EP, produced with Jeremy McDonald, landed placements on Grey's Anatomy and drew praise from Earmilk, Atwood Magazine, and KCRW. Later releases through Platoon and Nettwerk Music Group featured collaborators like JT Bates, James McAlister, and Jack Van Cleaf. He's toured alongside Hazlett, The Paper Kites, Trousdale, and Vacation Manor, and has over 60 million streams to his name.
So The Sun Can Pour is his first full album, and the story behind it is worth mentioning: he recorded it live in the Tahoe cabin his great-grandfather built, and Tucker Martine mixed it. That cabin setting fits the way he writes—much of his material comes together while he's out backpacking—and hearing those songs in a live room like Swan Dive is a good way to catch the record as it was intended.
