A wine tasting event pairing five classic Halloween candies with six wines at the queer-owned winery Hip Chicks do Wine.
Hip Chicks do Wine is running a Halloween Candy & Wine Pairing over three days in SE Portland, starting Friday, October 16. The setup is simple: five classic Halloween candies paired with six wines. Costumes are encouraged, and reservations are recommended.
It's a good way to get into the spirit early. The pairing runs Friday from 2 to 6 PM, Saturday from 12 to 6 PM, and Sunday from 12 to 5 PM, so you can swing by whenever fits your weekend. It's $30 and for 21 and up.
If you haven't been, Hip Chicks do Wine is a queer-owned winery at 4510 SE 23rd Ave. They've been around since 1999—more than 27 years—and were one of the first openly out queer-owned wineries in the country. They've also been the official wine sponsor of the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival for 20 years. This past year, they were voted Best Urban Winery in the 2026 Willamette Week Best of Portland competition, and they were finalists for Best Winery, Best Wine Bar, and Best Wine Tasting Experience. When they aren't doing tastings, they partner with Gifford's Flowers for Plant Bingo nights.

Between the candy and the wine, it's a low-stakes way to spend a Halloween weekend afternoon. The pairing is $30, and since it runs across three days, you've got plenty of room to fit it in.
