Concert by Glen Phillips, featuring Toad the Wet Sprocket and Willy Porter, at the Aladdin Theater.
Glen Phillips plays the Aladdin Theater on Sunday, October 11, with Toad the Wet Sprocket and Willy Porter joining him on the bill. It's a full evening of music, with the show starting at 7 PM.
Phillips is a songwriter and the former lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket, the band he formed in 1986 while he was still in high school. His folk-pop sound and introspective lyrics built a close bond with his fans, and since moving into a solo career he's pared his music down to its emotional core, focusing on love, relationships and a spiritual understanding. His solo discography includes Abulum, Winter Pays for Summer, Mr. Lemons and Secrets of the New Explorers.
He's also worked in bands beyond his solo records. He toured and recorded with Works Progress Administration, which included members of Nickel Creek, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Elvis Costello's Attractions, and Mutual Admiration Society, another project with Nickel Creek. He's from Santa Barbara, California.
