Concert by the alt rock and pop punk project Games We Play at Polaris Hall.
Games We Play are playing Polaris Hall on Sunday, March 28, 2027. It's a single-act bill, so the whole night belongs to them.
If you haven't come across the name before, there's a good reason it sounds more like a project than a band. Games We Play is the work of Emmyn Calleiro, who started it when he was 17 and a senior in high school. That early start explains a lot about where the sound lands: it's a wide net that pulls from alt rock, alternative, pop punk, pop, and punk. It's not a single lane, so you'll hear the punchy side of pop punk sitting right next to the more melodic, alternative stuff.
Calleiro calls Miami, Florida, his hometown, so this is a long way from where the project began. The sound has a distinct Florida energy to it—bright, loud, and not afraid to lean into the pop side of things even when the punk edges are showing. It's the kind of music that works as well on a loud system as it does on headphones, and seeing it live is the best way to hear how those different styles pull together in one set.
