Screening of the 1984 slasher film 'Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter' hosted by Rue Morgue Magazine, featuring a pre-show with a game walkthrough and trivia session.
Clinton Street Theater is screening Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) on Friday, October 9, at 7 PM. The night is presented with Rue Morgue Magazine, and the movie is just one part of the program. Before the film, Rue Morgue's executive editor Andrea Subissati and Yasmina Ketita, host of The Rewind Zone on Rue Morgue TV, lead a pre-show that includes a walkthrough of the Friday the 13th NES game and a trivia session. If you've spent any time with the franchise, you know the game is a notorious piece of horror history, so seeing it played through on screen is a good way to ease into the movie.
The screening is part of Horror October, the theater's annual month-long celebration of cult classics, international horror, midnight movies, and Halloween-themed oddities. This year's edition runs from October 1 to 27, and many of the films are paired with local acts. A Little Shop of Horrors shadowcast is handled by the Rogue Apostles, and a 16mm presentation of Faust comes with a live score by Accendino. The Rue Morgue night fits right into that mix—a slasher classic paired with a pre-show that leans into the gaming and trivia side of the fandom.

The Final Chapter is the fourth entry in the series, the one that takes Jason to a summer camp for counselors-in-training. It's widely considered one of the stronger sequels, and seeing it in a theater with a crowd is how these movies are meant to be watched. Between the pre-show and the film, it's a full evening for anyone who likes the series. Tickets are $15, and the screening starts at 7 PM at Clinton Street Theater, 2522 SE Clinton Street.
