Psych-punk band Frankie and the Witch Fingers perform with Gibby Haynes in a Butthole Surfers tribute set, part of the Desert Daze PDX Weekender.
Frankie and the Witch Fingers play the Roseland Theater on Saturday, December 5, as part of the Desert Daze PDX Weekender. They're a Los Angeles psych-punk band that's spent the last decade shifting its sound into new forms, and they're sharing the bill with Gibby Haynes: Butthole Surfers Mania, which brings along Spoon Benders and Jonny's Day Out.
The set will lean on their latest album, Data Doom, a record that looks at technological dystopia, systemic rot, creeping fascism, and the erosion of humanity. The sound has grown darker since their earlier work, pulling from proto-punk, German progressives, and funk fusion. The band consists of Dylan Sizemore, Josh Menashe, Nikki Pickle, and Nick Aguilar, and they've built a reputation for high-energy, frenetic live shows and a fierce DIY ethos. Over the years, they've shared stages with Kikagaku Moyo, Ty Segall, Oh Sees, Cheap Trick, and ZZ Top.
Because the show is part of the Desert Daze PDX Weekender, it's one of several events happening around the city that weekend. The lineup puts them alongside Gibby Haynes, the original Butthole Surfers frontman, and his Butthole Surfers Mania project, which includes Spoon Benders and Jonny's Day Out. Between the two, you'll get a full night of psych-leaning rock and punk, with the Witch Fingers bringing their latest material to the stage.
