Presentation by photographer Eddie Soloway on the beauty of photography and how to make personal images, part of the museum's PAM CUT lecture series.
Eddie Soloway is coming to the Portland Art Museum on Thursday, October 22, for a presentation titled Eyes Wide Open: Photography and your Creative Journey. He'll be talking about the beauty of photography and how to make personal images, and the session is part of the museum's PAM CUT lecture series.
Soloway is a photographer, teacher, and storyteller who describes himself as committed to opening people's eyes to the natural world. He's taught photography and creativity at leading photographic institutions and schools around the world, and the Santa Fe Center for Photographic Arts—now CENTER—gave him the Excellence in Photographic Teaching Award. Photo District News named him one of America's best photography workshop teachers.
Beyond the classroom, he's put together a few projects you can find on your own: he founded the creative online gathering Taproot, wrote the book One Thousand Moons, and created the SEE THINK DO photo cards and the Expressive Landscape video series. If you're into photography, those titles give you a good sense of where he spends his time—the natural world, the creative process, and the act of seeing.
