A documentary narrated by Christopher Lee exploring ancient Egyptian mummies, presented as a real-life Indiana Jones adventure for school field trips.
Egypt: Secrets of the Mummies is showing at the Empirical Theater inside OMSI on Friday, October 16. It's a 60-minute film that frames ancient Egypt as a real-life Indiana Jones adventure, complete with thieves, hidden treasure, and a modern-day scientific mystery. The story takes you into the royal tombs of Egypt and looks at the history of ancient Egyptian society through the mummies left behind, following researchers and explorers as they piece together archaeological and genetic clues.
The film is narrated by actor Christopher Lee, and it doesn't just stay in the past. It connects the work of reconstructing mummy DNA and deciphering ancient texts to modern human genetics and advanced medical treatments, showing how studying these remains still provides insight today. The whole thing runs an hour, from 1 PM to 2 PM.
