Chicago-based Latin music quintet Dos Santos live at Polaris Hall, blending ancestral rhythms across the Americas.
Dos Santos play Polaris Hall on Friday, October 16, at 8 PM. They're a Chicago-based quintet that's been together since 2013, and they've spent that time pushing the edges of Latin music. The sound they build draws on ancestral rhythms from across the Americas, with barrio cumbias, psychedelic westerns, and desert serenades woven in.
Their work is produced by Grammy winner Beto Martinez, and their upcoming fourth full-length album continues in that same tradition. It's a record that keeps them in the same territory they've been working in for over a decade, so you'll hear the same approach they've brought to their earlier releases.
As a quintet, they've got five people on stage to bring those rhythms to life. The set will be built around the material from that fourth album, and the whole thing is produced by Martinez. If you've followed them before, you'll recognize the sound they've been refining since they started in Chicago back in 2013.
