A live music concert featuring the Portland post-psych rock band Crooked Looks and musician Ray Ramano at the historic Mission Theater.
Crooked Looks play the Mission Theater on Friday, November 20, with Ray Ramano opening. It's a local bill in a room that's a Portland fixture.
Crooked Looks is a three-piece that bridges post-psych rock with classic grunge, fronted by vocalist and lead guitarist Sage Collette. His fuzzy sound draws comparisons to Queens of the Stone Age and Soundgarden, and the band pairs light melodies with firm riffs and lyrics that emanate a youthful, ever-partying spirit. They're known for delivering a massive sound live, and while they've been on a studio hiatus, they've spent that time fine-tuning their intricate riffs and catchy vocal hooks.
The Mission Theater, known simply as the Mission, was the early 20th-century home of the Swedish Mission Covenant congregation and still wears the staid, buttoned-up look of its church past. These days it hosts live music, video dance nights and special events on select nights each month. The room holds about 300 standing and 200 seated.
