Experimental and instrumental trio City of the Sun perform live on their North American Tour, presenting their album Under the Moon.
City of the Sun play The Get Down on Friday, October 16, as part of their North American tour. They're an instrumental trio from Brooklyn, New York, and they'll be presenting their album Under the Moon.
If you're not familiar with them, they've been around since 2011, formed around guitarist John Pita and percussionist Zach Para. Their sound is cinematic and purely instrumental, pulling from a wide mix of indie rock, American folk, flamenco, and blues. Because they work without a singer, the guitar and percussion do all the heavy lifting, and they're often compared to Rodrigo y Gabriela and Explosions in the Sky.
This isn't their first outing. They've put out To The Sun and All the Cities in Between in 2016, City of the Sun in 2020, and Segunda Alma in 2022, so there's a fair amount of material to draw from alongside the new record. The Portland date is one stop on their tour across North America.
