Folk and alternative country artist Dean Johnson performs with Canadian songwriter Cat Clyde at the Aladdin Theater.
Dean Johnson plays the Aladdin Theater on Friday, December 4, with Canadian songwriter Cat Clyde sharing the bill. It's a double bill of two songwriters who each bring their own specific corner of the folk world to the stage.
Johnson is a Seattle-area artist whose rustic tenor and simply strummed acoustic guitar have won him a devoted following across the Pacific Northwest, a reputation built almost entirely through live performances. He writes existential cowboy waltzes, ballads, honest confessionals, and heartbreakers from a singular perspective, and his work sits across country folk, folk, indie folk, and alternative country. He released his debut album, Nothing for Me, Please, in 2023 at the age of 50, after years tending bar at Al's Tavern in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood.
Cat Clyde joins him on the bill. Her new album, Mud Blood Bone, is her fourth full-length and her first release with Concord Records. She produced it with Drew Vandenberg and recorded it at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, Georgia.
