Bonnie Medicine is the musical collaboration of Galen Hefferman and Jahnavi Veronica. They weave their songs together with haunting vocal harmonies, plucked and bowed strings, and percussion, and they bring in the voices of those who show up to help build the sound. The result is a series of soundscapes they describe as rooted in dreams and communications with nature.
They talk about their music as a balm for challenging times, something meant to transform and revive, and to open up to a full-hearted life. They describe their process as twisting the fibers of the dream world and the waking world into one. It's folk music that leans into the atmospheric and the vocal, with the strings and the harmonies doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
