Orange Vanilla EP release show and potluck with Mr. Boy and Blood Jacuzzi at Wyrd Hut.
Blood Jacuzzi are playing Wyrd Hut on Saturday, October 10, for the release of their Orange Vanilla EP. It's a double bill with Mr. Boy, and the whole thing is set up as a potluck, so you'll want to bring a dish to share. The music starts at 6:30 PM.
If you haven't crossed paths with them before, Blood Jacuzzi started in 2017 as a two-piece garage project between middle-school friends Billy King on guitar and vocals and Derrick Young on drums. They grew up in the chaotic house-show scene of Eugene, Oregon, and have since expanded into a collective of old friends: Zach Lunte on bass, Mickey Fishback on synth, and Hunter Moore on drums. Their sound pulls from punk pop, indie alt pop, freak folk, and indie rock, and the Orange Vanilla EP is the latest addition to that mix.
Live, they're known for theatrical skits that build toward the dramatized murder of various members, with generous portions of fake blood. The music itself is raw and energetic, and Billy King's lyrics—witty and heartfelt—explore personal struggle and celebrate difference. Between the skits and the songs, it's a show that doesn't stay in one place for long.
