Folk singer-songwriter Bedouine performs music from her back catalog and her new record Neon Summer Skin in a full band show.
Bedouine plays Polaris Hall on Friday, October 23, at 8 PM. It's a full band show, and the set pulls from both her back catalog and her new record, Neon Summer Skin.
Bedouine is the project of Azniv Korkejian, who writes gentle, lilting folk songs built around fingerpicked guitar melodies that open up into waves of emotion. The new album, Neon Summer Skin, came after she visited her family in Saudi Arabia and explores the feeling of childhood safety. It's a record that sits close to home, and hearing those songs live with a full band behind her should give them a different weight than they have on the record.
She's built a reputation for this kind of understated, textural folk. Pitchfork described her sound as having a "surreal calm and lived-in glow," and Rolling Stone called it "humble folk-pop brilliance." Beyond the reviews, she's played an NPR Tiny Desk Concert and toured with acts like Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty, so she's well-acquainted with the quiet, melodic end of indie folk. The full band format means the set will be more than just her and a guitar, with the arrangements filling out the room.
