R&B artist Akeem Ali performs live on his The Texture Tour at the Hawthorne Theatre in Portland.
Akeem Ali brings The Texture Tour to the Hawthorne Theatre on Saturday, October 24, with the show starting at 8 PM. It's a single-bill night, so he's the only name on the marquee.
Ali is an artist from Jackson, Mississippi, and the tour takes its name from his Texture series of recordings. If you're coming from his early work, you'll recognize the songs that put him on the map: his debut EP ROLLIN gave us "Rollin," "My Name," "Sucka Free," "Be Alright," and "For Real For Real." He hit a wider audience in 2020 when the video for "Keemy Casanova" went viral on Facebook, which led to him signing with Lou Williams' Winners United. The Texture title ties back to those recordings, so the set should draw from that material.

The Portland date is an all-ages night, which means you can bring younger friends along without worrying about age restrictions. There's still a bar for anyone with a valid photo ID, so you can grab a drink while you're there. The Hawthorne is at 1507 SE 39th Ave, and the show kicks off at 8 PM on Saturday, October 24.
