New Year's Eve Dinner and House Party

Boringdon Hall Hotel and Spa is hosting a New Year's Eve dinner and house party on 31 December, running from 18:15 through to 23:45. It's a black-tie affair, so you'll need to dust off the tuxedo or the evening gown for this one. The night starts in the Great Hall with a Champagne reception and live jazz, which sets the tone before things move on to the main event.

Dinner is the centrepiece, and you've got two ways to do it. There's the Mayflower Brasserie, an award-winning spot that serves a four-course dinner for £150 per person. If you're after something a bit more ambitious, Àclèaf is the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant, led by head chef Scott Paton. It does inventive British cuisine and holds a MICHELIN star alongside four AA Rosettes; the six-course tasting menu there is £200 per person. From 21:30, the live music takes over as the countdown to midnight begins, with a Champagne toast and dancing into the new year. Function Central provides the music for the party side of the evening.

It's worth knowing where you're heading. Boringdon Hall is a five-star country house hotel and spa on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, sitting on an estate that once belonged to Henry VIII and was visited by Elizabeth I and Sir Francis Drake. It's also reputed to be haunted, which adds a bit of character to the place. The hotel's Gaia Spa, which opened in 2016, is an award-winning wellness retreat, so if you're staying over, there's plenty to do the next day. The whole thing runs from 18:15 on New Year's Eve until 23:45, with the Mayflower Brasserie four-course dinner at £150 per person and the Àclèaf six-course tasting menu at £200 per person.
