Annabels Cabaret & Discotheque

Annabels Cabaret & Discotheque is hosting a night of Disco Funk on Saturday 8 August, with the south west's premier Disco Funk band playing live. It's a late one, too: the music starts at 22:00 and runs through to 01:00 on Sunday morning, so you've got five hours of live funk to work through.

If you're not familiar with the sound, disco funk is exactly what it says on the tin. It's the dancefloor side of disco—heavy on the bass, driven by a tight rhythm section, and built for dancing rather than just listening. Having a live band on the bill instead of a DJ changes the whole feel of the night; there's a different energy to a room when the music is being made right there in front of you, and the funk is always better when it's played live.

The band describes themselves as the south west's premier Disco Funk act, and they'll be taking over the night from start to finish. With five hours on the clock, there's plenty of room for the set to build, and the late start means the dancefloor will be the main event rather than a warm-up.
