What is On at Plymouth Arena: Major Events and Venue Guide

Plymouth’s central entertainment landscape continues to revolve around its largest indoor venue, Plymouth Arena on Millbay Road. Operating from the former Millbay railway station site since 1991, the complex remains the primary location for high-capacity touring shows, live comedy and major events in the city. With a maximum capacity reaching up to 4,000 for standing concerts and 2,500 for seated performances, the venue regularly fills its calendar with nationally recognised acts and large-scale productions.

Looking at the venue's recent history, its internal footprint has adjusted significantly over the years. The leisure swimming pool area, which originally featured an underwater theme, permanently ceased operation back in March 2012 following the launch of the Plymouth Life Centre. More recently, the venue's long-running ice rink closed its doors permanently on 31 December 2022 due to rising operational and energy costs. On the sports front, the arena previously served as the home court for the Plymouth Raiders basketball team from 1996 to 2021, before hosting the Plymouth City Patriots during the 2021-22 season. The main hall also has a history of hosting major sporting events, including PDC Premier League Darts fixtures between 2005 and 2008, as well as WWE NXT UK shows.

For the remainder of 2026, the venue’s schedule is packed with live music, comedy and entertainment. Upcoming appearances include The Proclaimers on 31 July and 31 October, with tickets priced from £43.25. The Dead South perform on 4 September, followed by The Prat Pack on 12 September (£68.60) and David Essex on 17 September (£40.70). Comedians feature heavily in the autumn, with Jonathan Pie on 26 September (£24.50), Simon Brodkin on 10 October (£30.25), Chris Ramsey on 14 October (£35.60), and Bill Bailey performing his Vaudevillean show on 5 and 6 November (£69.50). Other major autumn dates include Jack Savoretti on 21 October (£46.45), two nights of Professor Brian Cox on 24 and 25 October (£43.95), Miriam Margolyes on 28 October, Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds on 26 and 29 October (£30.50), and Paul Heaton on 3 November (£39.50).
