Half-Term Family Shows at Theatre Royal Plymouth

If you are looking ahead to the autumn half-term, Theatre Royal Plymouth has lined up a mix of family-friendly shows and hands-on workshops. Running from late October to early November 2025, the programme offers a variety of performances across its different stages, catering to everyone from parents with babies to older children and teenagers. It is a great opportunity to plan some creative activities for the school holidays, with options ranging from interactive science-themed musicals to classic comedy retellings.

One of the main highlights is The Colour of Dinosaurs, playing at The Drum from 28 October to 31 October 2025. This multi-sensory science pop gig, created by Otic and Lloyd Coleman, is designed for children aged 5 and up. It explores how scientists discovered the real colours of dinosaurs, blending music, poetry, and storytelling. For children aged 8 to 11 who want to get more involved, there is a dedicated six-hour workshop in The Lab on Wednesday 29 October 2025. This session costs £20 and includes storytelling, puppetry, and music, alongside a ticket to watch the show itself.

For families with very young children, The Lab is hosting A Tale of Us on 30 October and 31 October 2025. This gentle, one-hour play is designed specifically for parents and babies aged up to 18 months, focusing on the early days of parenthood and ending with a guided play session. Meanwhile, over on the main Lyric stage, the comedy troupe Le Navet Bete brings King Arthur on Saturday 1 November 2025. This physical comedy retelling of the legendary tales is suitable for ages 8 and up, offering a lighthearted, two-hour performance to wrap up the half-term week.
