The annual Big Plymouth Ride is returning this summer, bringing together the local biking community for its 2026 edition. Scheduled for Sunday 16 August 2026, this massive charity ride has become a staple of the local calendar since it first started in 2020, stepping in to fill the gap left by the former Megaride. It is a highly inclusive event organized by Lee Garlick, welcoming absolutely anyone on two wheels. Whether you ride a modest 50cc scooter, a classic cruiser, or a high-performance superbike, you will find a welcoming crowd of fellow enthusiasts ready to hit the road.

If you are planning to join the ride, the meeting point is at the North Road, Lee Mill industrial estate in Ivybridge. Riders will start gathering from 10:00, with the official departure scheduled for 11:30. To make sure everything runs smoothly on the day, the organizers ask that all participants arrive with a full tank of fuel and ensure their bikes are completely roadworthy. There is a suggested minimum donation of £2 to take part, with all the proceeds from the event going directly to FND Action UK, a patient-led charity that supports people living with Functional Neurological Disorder across the country.
The route itself will feel very familiar to anyone who remembers the classic Megaride route. After setting off from Lee Mill, the convoy will head up the A38 to the Marley Head turnoff, cross over the bridge, and make its way back down the A38. From there, the route exits at the Marsh Mills slip road, heads down the Embankment onto Exeter Street, turns left into Bretonside, and finally finishes at the Barbican. Once the bikes enter the Barbican area, the organized ride officially concludes. Participants are reminded to strictly adhere to all local speed limits during the journey and to follow parking regulations once they arrive at the Barbican.

It is a fantastic opportunity to get a great photo of your bike while supporting a very worthy cause. Whether you are riding or just want to find a good spot along the Embankment or the Barbican to watch the spectacular convoy pass by, it promises to be a great Sunday out for local motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts.
