Scream O Phonic Symphony

Scream-O-Phonic Symphony comes to Bottlerocket Social Hall on Thursday, October 22, at 8 PM. It's a live horror series aimed at cinephiles and horror fans, and the setup is a bit different from your usual concert: a live ensemble plays selections from classic horror film soundtracks in sync with clips from the movies, which run on vintage bar TVs around the room. You'll hear the music live while the scenes play out on the screens, so the sound and the picture happen together.

The program pulls from some of the most recognizable scores in the genre. The ensemble will perform selections from Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th, and Halloween—three titles that most horror fans know by heart. Because the music is timed to the clips, it's less about sitting in a concert hall and more about watching the movies with a live band providing the score.

It's billed as a 21+ Halloween event, and the venue is a bar, so you can grab a fall beer while the scores play. Between the vintage TVs and the seasonal drinks, it's a night built for people who spend their October watching old slashers and creature features. The show starts at 8 PM at Bottlerocket Social Hall in Pittsburgh.
