Portland pop and hyperpop artist saoirse dream plays Mr. Roboto Project with Anita Velveeta, Elijah Batson, Frog Legs and Mango Tree.
saoirse dream plays Mr. Roboto Project on Saturday, October 24, as part of her East Coast tour this fall. She's a Portland-based popstar, and the Pittsburgh date is one of the stops on the run she's making across the coast this season.
If you're not familiar with her, the sound is a wide one. She pulls from electronica and chiptunes, emo, alt-rock, and hyperpop, and she describes the whole thing as "nth wave emo." It's a bit of a mouthful, but it gives you a sense of where she's playing: right at the intersection of digital pop and the more melodic, angstier side of indie rock.
She's not the only one on the bill. The full lineup for the night includes Anita Velveeta, Elijah Batson, Frog Legs, and Mango Tree, so there's a fair amount of music to work through before the night is over. With five acts in one evening, it's more of a showcase than a single headliner set.
