Melodiq, known for fusing hip-hop, soul and jazz, performs live at Back Alley Brewing Company.
Melodiq & The Vibes play Back Alley Brewing Company this Friday, October 16, from 7 PM to 9 PM. The bill is led by Melodiq, who's been making hip-hop since 1994. He blends hip-hop, soul, and jazz, and he lists A Tribe Called Quest and Gang Starr as influences — two groups that built their sound on exactly those kinds of jazz and soul samples, so that should give you a good sense of where he's coming from.
Melodiq hails from Syracuse, New York, and has spent the years since he started building a soulful, consistent repertoire. He works with producers, musicians, and emcees from around the world, and his output spans hip-hop, neo-soul, and jazz. The set on Friday is billed as Melodiq & The Vibes, so you'll hear him backed by a full band rather than just tracks.
