New York shoegaze, grunge and dream pop band Glimmer plays The Government Center on the North Side, with support from Useless and Threaded.
Glimmer play The Government Center on Sunday, October 25, with support from Useless and Threaded. The New York band brings a mix of shoegaze, grunge, and dream pop to the North Side, and they're coming off their first full-length record.
Glimmer formed in the spring of 2023. Over their first two years, they put out a string of singles that caught the attention of NPR, Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, and CREEM Magazine, landed on official Spotify playlists, and took them on tour across the US and Europe. Their debut LP, GetWeak, was recorded in Brooklyn and mastered by Will Yip, who has worked with Turnstile and Superheaven. It leans on '90s nostalgia, pairing pop-leaning singles like "Dissolve" and "Sorrow Again" with fuzzed-out alt-rock anthems like "Been Down" and the ethereal ballad "Bloom." The record has been praised by NPR, Stereogum, VICE, NME, and The Line of Best Fit.
The night is billed as dark and moody, fitting the flyer's gothic, grim-reaper aesthetic. Useless and Threaded open the bill, so the music starts well before Glimmer takes the stage.
