A seasonal chrysanthemum flower show themed around Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, featuring horticultural displays and garden tours.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is running its Fall Flower Show: Alice's Adventures in Autumn from October 10 through November 1. The show takes its theme from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and the displays are built around chrysanthemums.
Phipps has been putting on chrysanthemum-themed seasonal shows since 1894, which makes this the longest-running show of its kind in the country and a real Pittsburgh tradition. Each one takes a full year of horticultural planning, growing, and training expertise to pull off. The Conservatory itself dates back to 1893 and sits on 15 acres, with a historic 14-room glasshouse that brings in more than half a million visitors a year.
