Autumn edition of the Chef & Winemaker Dinner series at City Winery, a four-course meal with wine pairings guided by a wine professional.
City Winery Pittsburgh is bringing back its Chef & Winemaker Dinner Series for the autumn season with an edition called Harvest. It's a four-course meal where each course comes with its own wine pairing, so you're working your way through four different pours over the course of the night. The whole thing is built around the fall, with the menu and the wines leaning into the season.
What sets this apart from a standard dinner is the wine professional who guides the evening. As the courses come out, they'll walk you through the tasting notes for each pairing, sharing the stories and the context behind the bottles. It's a good way to pick up a bit of wine knowledge without having to do any of the heavy lifting yourself—you just sit back and listen while you eat.
City Winery frames the series around the seasons, and Harvest is the autumn installment. If you've done one of these before, you know the drill: a curated menu, a curated list of wines, and someone there to explain why they work together. If this is your first one, it's a straightforward way to spend an evening with good food and a few glasses of wine.
