Free Halloween trunk-or-treat event with decorated trunks, games and a spooky exhibit for families at the Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center.
Trunk or Treat is coming to the Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center on Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's a free family event run by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, and the whole thing takes place right in the recreation center's parking lot.
The setup is exactly what the name suggests: the parking lot is turned into a Halloween trail, and the kids trick-or-treat from the open trunks of decorated cars. Between the trunks, there are games to play and a spooky exhibit to walk through, so it's more than just a line for candy. There's plenty of candy and Halloween fun for all ages, and costumes are encouraged, though not required.
Since it's run by the city, it's a low-stakes way to get the kids out for the holiday without having to map out a whole neighborhood route. You can just pull into the lot, let them work their way through the trail, and head home when they've had their fill. It's free, it's in the open air, and it's geared toward families.
