Inaugural women's college basketball showcase featuring a nationally televised doubleheader with UCLA vs Duke and USC vs Miami.
UCLA, Duke, USC, and Miami are all coming to the Mortgage Matchup Center on Wednesday, December 16, for the inaugural Scripps Sports Women's Basketball Showcase. It's a doubleheader, so you get two full games in one night: UCLA takes on Duke at 5 PM, and USC faces Miami at 7:30 PM. Both tip off in Arizona time.
The first game brings together two programs with a long history. UCLA is the defending national champion, and they're led by transfer Addy Brown. They hold a 3-2 edge in the series against Duke, which dates back to 1997. The second game is a first: USC and Miami have never met before, so this is the first time these two programs will face each other on the court. JuJu Watkins, the 2024-25 consensus National Player of the Year, headlines that one.
Behind the scenes, the showcase is presented by Position Sports and The E.W. Scripps Company. It's airing nationally on ION, Scripps' sports and entertainment network, which reaches more than 128 million households. This adds to the company's growing portfolio of women's sports rights, which already includes the WNBA, NWSL, PWHL, the 2027 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Cup, and Premier Women's Rodeo. Position Sports, founded in 2005, is a premium event production and brand marketing firm that has worked with Nike, Jordan Brand, Red Bull, the Basketball Hall of Fame, ESPN Events, USA Basketball, and MLB.
