Strictly 21+ comedy show in which one actor gets drunk to play Dracula while four sober castmates try to finish the play, as an indoor speakeasy show.
Drunk Dracula opens at The Rose Theatre on Saturday, October 17, and runs through Wednesday, October 21. It's a comedy in a cape that takes Bram Stoker's classic and turns it into a bit of a train wreck on purpose. The premise is simple: one professional actor knocks back five shots of whiskey and tries to retell Dracula, while four sober castmates do their best to finish the play around him. The whole thing is built on that tension—one person losing the plot while the rest of the cast tries to keep it on the rails.
It's an indoor speakeasy show that runs about 90 minutes with no intermission, and it doesn't hold back on the atmosphere: fog, strobe lights, loud noises, and audience participation are all part of the experience. The company describes it as an homage to the original drinker, bringing its brand of mayhem to the spooky season. If you've heard of Drunk Shakespeare, that's where this comes from. It's put on by The Drunk Shakespeare Society, the same group that's spent over a decade getting one actor gloriously drunk and turning classics into chaos.
