A comedic theatrical retelling of Dracula by The Drunk Shakespeare Society, where one actor performs while intoxicated and the rest of the cast tries to keep the show going.
The Drunk Shakespeare Society brings Drunk Dracula to The Rose Theatre on Thursday, October 15, starting at 7 PM. The show runs about 90 minutes. It's their take on the classic vampire tale, and it's built around a pretty simple, chaotic premise: one professional actor downs five shots of whiskey and then tries to deliver a modern retelling of Dracula, while four sober castmates do their best to keep the play moving around them.
The cast rotates who drinks each night, so no two performances are the same. The whole thing is staged as a homage to the original drinker, Bram Stoker, and it's a comedy in a cape—expect fog, strobe lights, loud noises, and audience participation. They mash the original story with modern tropes, horror crossovers, and adult humor, so it's less of a faithful adaptation and more of a comedic wreck. The venue serves craft cocktails straight to your seat, and there's no drink minimum.
