One actor drinks five shots of whiskey and improvises A Christmas Carol while four sober castmates finish the story, in an intimate speakeasy.
The Drunk Shakespeare Society is bringing A Drunk Christmas Carol to The Rose Theatre on Thursday, November 12, at 7 PM. The premise is pretty straightforward: one professional actor knocks back five shots of whiskey and tries to deliver an epic, improvised retelling of A Christmas Carol, while four sober castmates step in to keep the story moving toward the finish line. The cast rotates who drinks each night, so the energy changes depending on who's taking the shots.
The Society has been doing this for over a decade—getting one actor gloriously drunk and turning classics into chaos—and A Christmas Carol is just one of their holiday offerings; they also stage Drunk Dracula. The show plays in-the-round in an intimate speakeasy, with cocktails and mocktails delivered right to your seat and no drink minimum. It's strictly 21+, and they check IDs at the door.
