Curious Nature is a natural history shop in Phoenix that has been open since 2014. It started on Roosevelt Row, moved to Central Avenue and Camelback, and in February 2023 it settled into its current building at 4346 N 7th Ave. The shop sits on the curved stretch of Seventh Avenue between Camelback and Indian School roads, in the Melrose District, a neighborhood known for its LGBTQ+ friendly atmosphere.

The main draw is the taxidermy, which the shop describes as ethically sourced. You'll find skulls, bones, mounted animals, owl pellets and wasp nests. There are also wet specimens such as a preserved fetal lamb and a half-dissected pig, so it's not for everyone. Other sections cover entomology supplies with butterflies, rhinoceros beetles and tarantulas, plus gems and minerals like quartz, amethyst and bismuth. The shop also sells sea life, framed specimens, botanicals, jewelry, Tarot cards, Victorian sodas, candles, incense, plants and books. If you can't decide, the curiosity boxes offer a mix of items. Prices for most products start below $10. The Backyard Adventure Bundle includes a nature notebook, binoculars, a compass keychain, a magnifying glass, a water buffalo horn cup, a horn knife, incense, a turkey feather and stickers. It was valued at $200 and sold for $174.99.
The shop also runs classes and events. Coming up after Halloween, there is a Taxidermy Rat Class on 11/07/26 for $300, a Bat Chat on 11/08/26 for $25, and Block Printing Essentials: Carve, Ink, Print on Friday, 11/13/26, from 7 to 9 pm for $50. Participants should bring an apron and a printed picture. There's a Tarot Reading Class on 11/15/26 for $50 and a Victorian Hairwork: Coiled Flower Workshop on 11/18/26 for $50. Later in the winter, a Taxidermy Jackalope Class is set for 01/09/27 at $350, and Ask an Embalmer Q&A is on 02/06/27 for $40. Before that, the Halloween weekend has a Make Your Own Victorian Seance Kit on 10/30/26 for $50 and Spooky Stitching: Creepy-Cute Felt Ornaments on Saturday, 10/31/26, from 2 to 4 pm for $50, with materials included. The return policy is strict. All sales are final, and returns and exchanges are handled case by case. An item must be unused, in the same condition as when you received it, and in its original packaging. You must ship it back within 3 days of receiving it, and you need a receipt or proof of purchase.
