Gallery talk led by PAFA docents exploring how three American artists were inspired by new places and experiences.
PAFA is hosting Wish You Were Here on Monday, November 2, a gallery talk led by the museum's docents. The conversation centers on three American artists and how new places and experiences shaped their work, so the whole thing is built around the idea of travel and the way a change of scenery can shift how an artist sees the world.
Since it's a docent-led talk, you'll be moving through the galleries with people who know the collection inside and out. They'll be standing in front of the work they're talking about, which is a lot better than just hearing about it from a distance. The focus is on those three artists and the specific places that left a mark on them, so it's as much about the travel as it is about the painting.

The talk takes place at the PAFA Museum, in the Historic Landmark Building in Philadelphia. If you've been to the museum before, you know the building is part of the experience. General admission to the talk is free with a general admission ticket, which is $25. So you get the talk and the rest of the museum in one go.
