The second largest Walk to End Alzheimer's in the country, aiming to raise $2 million, with a Promise Garden ceremony and a two-mile walk.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's comes to Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, November 7, as part of a nationwide effort that reaches more than 600 communities every fall. The Philadelphia leg is the second largest in the country, and this year it's aiming to raise $2 million. The whole thing is run by the Alzheimer's Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works through local chapters like the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. All the money raised goes toward care, support, and researchโthat includes education, support groups, and the Association's 24/7 Helpline.
On the day, everyone carries a Promise Garden flower, and the color you hold marks your personal connection to the disease. The walk itself is two miles, rain or shine. If you're looking to do a bit more, you can become a 'Champion' by raising at least $500 and earn a commemorative medal; anyone who raises at least $100 gets an official walk T-shirt. National sponsors include Edward Jones, Axsome, Biogen, and Eisai.
